Diamond Light Source
Diamond Light Source is the UK’s national synchrotron facility located at Harwell in Oxfordshire. It produces extremely bright beams of light—from infrared through to X-rays—that allow scientists to examine the structure and properties of matter in fine detail. Its research supports breakthroughs in fields like biology, medicine, materials science, physics, engineering and environmental science. The facility hosts and serves thousands of researchers, engineers and technicians and is currently undergoing upgrades under its Diamond-II programme to enhance beamline performance, detectors, sample environments and computing.
