Hand-picked deals and money tips for graduates, updated weekly.

Week of 27th September 2026

Prices/codes below were live on 2026-09-27 and change fast — re-check each before sending.

Welcome to the GradIRL deals email — a shortlist of the stuff that makes the jump after uni cheaper. We've pulled out the bits that genuinely apply to graduate life: your first SIM, the first flat, food on a budget, workwear, gyms, travel home and a few freebies.

A few house rules so you can trust what you read:

  • 🎓 = student-only — needs a StudentBeans or UNiDAYS check (free to set up, takes a minute).
  • ✅ = anyone can use it — no verification needed.
  • Every link goes straight to the shop, never through a tracking middleman. If a code is involved, we've told you plainly where to find it.
  • Codes and prices move fast — give each one a quick check before you rely on it.

Right, here's the good stuff.

📱 Tech & your first job

  • Lebara 5G SIM

10GB for £1.89/mo for the first 4 months ✅ — at Lebara. A brilliant stop-gap while you settle in (runs on Vodafone, EU roaming, 30-day rolling, cancel anytime).

Galaxy S26 10% off + trade-in, Galaxy Book6 15% off (runs to 6 Oct) 🎓 — at Samsung. Worth setting up before the window closes.

  • Apple education pricing on Macs & iPads

  • Anker Zolo 70W 4-port USB-C charger

✅ — at Anker. A tidy one-plug-for-everything charger for the new desk, around £30.

Our take: the Lebara SIM is a no-strings "do it" while you sort things out. The student tech discounts are "try it" once your UNiDAAYS is set up — and the Samsung one's only around to 6 Oct.

💷 Money worth knowing (no codes, just the tip)

A few money moves doing the rounds this week. These are general tips, not advice, and none of them are GradIRL affiliate links — we've linked only to the provider's own page where one was given.

  • Switching bank accounts can still pay you.

Several banks give new customers a cash incentive if you move across 2+ Direct Debits (there's a free ~10-day switch service). Right now that's roughly Lloyds £200 (with a yearly reward choice such as free Disney+), Santander £240, HSBC £220, First Direct £210, NatWest £200 and Nationwide £175 — but eligibility and pay-in rules vary, so read each bank's own page first. Lloyds · Santander · HSBC · First Direct · NatWest · Nationwide.

  • A top easy-access savings rate.

Raisin is showing around 5.3% on a one-year fixed account for £10k+ (that's a 4.9% rate plus cashback) — worth a look if you've a lump sum sitting in a low-paying account. At Raisin.

  • Cheap SIMs if you're not tied in.

This week's best buys include Lebara at about £2.90/mo for 3GB and £3.36/mo for 35GB, and iD Mobile at £3/mo for 10GB — handy if your contract's up. At Lebara and iD Mobile.

  • Broadband best buys.

Sky is showing from £19.46/mo (100Mb) and £22.34/mo (900Mb) — compare on the provider's own page before you sign a long contract. At Sky.

  • Energy: the price cap is predicted to rise a further 24% in January on top of the confirmed October rise, so if you're on the cap it's worth comparing fixed tariffs before you lock one in.

Our honesty note: bank-switch and savings offers are regulated promotions. We're not recommending a specific account or code here — just pointing you to the banks' and providers' own pages so you can decide. Never switch right before a mortgage or loan application.

The small print

  • Is this advice? No. We write what actually helps graduates, generally. Your money is your own — if something feels wrong for your numbers, trust you.
  • Links are clean. Every link goes straight to the retailer's own page. We never send you through a third-party tracker, and we don't republish other sites' referral codes.
  • Check before you buy. Prices, codes and expiry dates were live on 2026-09-27 and change quickly — verify each one on the day.
  • Not professionals, not robots: GradIRL helps graduates with jobs, money and wellbeing — kindly, plainly and free.

Happy September. We've combed the live UK deals across tech, your first flat, food, workwear, outdoor wear, gyms, travel and freebies, and pulled out the bits that genuinely apply to graduate life.

How to read this: 🎓 = student-only (StudentBeans or UNiDAYS check — free, takes a minute). ✅ = anyone can use it, no verification. Every link goes straight to the shop, never through a tracking middleman. Codes and prices move fast — give each one a quick check before you rely on it.

Money worth knowing

  • Fix your energy now to beat the October price-cap rise.

Ofgem's cap rises ~3.6% on 1 Oct (on top of July's 12.6%). Cheap fixes are about 8% under the current cap, so you'd save immediately and roughly 11% from October. This is general info, not advice — read Ofgem's price-cap guide and your provider's own page first. Eligibility and terms vary.

  • Bank-switch bonuses are regulated promotions. We're pointing you to the source (Santander, First Direct, Nationwide, Co-op all pay £175–£240 to switch), not recommending a specific account. Check each bank's own page for live amounts and eligibility — a switch is a credit application, so hold off if you've a big credit check coming.
